Development of Sphingolipid Measurement System by LC-IT-TOF MS

Sphingolipids, which share a common ceramide structure, are highly hydrophobic compounds based on two types of long-chain alkyl groups. For these compounds, a wide-pore ODS column with a pore size of 30 nm, such as Cadenza CW-C18, provides better retention and separation balance compared to standard low-molecular ODS columns with typical pore sizes (10-13nm).

The authors developed a measurement system for intracellular ceramides using a wide-pore ODS column and LC-IT-TOF MS, achieving sufficient sensitivity and high throughput. This method is considered useful for the analysis of ceramides as biomarkers for Alzheimer's disease (AD).

The wide-pore ODS column Cadenza CW-C18 is effective for the LC-MS analysis of highly hydrophobic sphingolipids.

Development of a Novel Micafungin Blood Concentration Measurement Method Using a Hydrophobic/Hydrophilic Hybrid ODS Column for Direct Plasma Injection

Online drug analysis methods in plasma typically require a deproteinization pretreatment column in addition to the analytical column, complicating the system. Cadenza HS-C18 is a hydrophobic/hydrophilic hybrid ODS column with a hydrophilic surface structure that can exclude plasma proteins, making it suitable for simple gradient LC or LC-MS systems without the need for deproteinization steps.

The authors developed a plasma analysis method for micafungin, an echinocandin antifungal drug, using Cadenza HS-C18 and HPLC-fluorescence detection method, employing an analogue as an internal standard. They obtained favorable results in terms of linearity, recovery rate, and intra-/inter-day variability. This method is considered effective for the rapid diagnosis of fungal infections in emergency and intensive care settings.

The serum (plasma) direct injection column Cadenza HS-C18 is also effective in the field of therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM).
