While 250mm long columns have been used for many years for analyses requiring high separation, the reality is that typical columns have a particle size of 5μm and a theoretical plate number of just over 20,000, which has not been sufficient to meet the needs for precise separation.

IMTAKT has been refining 3μm particle technology since its inception.
The 250 x 4.6mm columns of Cadenza CD-C18 and Unison series achieve a maximum of 50,000 theoretical plates at the time of shipment, and have been well received by many column users. In response to the need for even more precise separation, IMTAKT has developed the ultimate high-theoretical plate column, 500 x 4.6mm, which can achieve the separation performance of two connected 250mm columns in a single column.

This single column achieves a maximum of 100,000 theoretical plates, surpassing the performance of two connected 250mm columns, and is more affordable and practical than two columns. The 100,000 theoretical plate column proves its worth in applications where precise separation is necessary, such as the separation of structural isomers and multi-component systems, which can be challenging even for 250mm columns.
