Unison UK series with 3μm particles, which offers higher resolution compared to conventional 5μm columns, is also highly effective in normal-phase separations with a silica stationary phase. Unison UK-Silica was developed to achieve higher separation and faster analyses than traditional 5μm, 250mm silica columns. Unison UK-Silica can be used for both non-aqueous and aqueous normal-phase separations.

Unison UK-Silica columns, when used with acidic additives such as acetic acid or formic acid, are fundamental normal-phase columns that are expected to yield significant results in various fields such as natural product chemistry and organic synthesis chemistry.

CAUTION

UK-Silica is a pure silica column. While silica is extremely robust under acidic conditions, it is prone to dissolution in neutral pH environments such as ammonium acetate, which raises concerns about column bleeding and durability in LC-MS applications.

When using silica columns with aqueous mobile phases containing neutral salts like ammonium acetate or ammonium formate, it is recommended to keep the mixture ratio below 20% (preferably below 10%) to avoid silica hydrolysis.
