Challenges of Traditional Size Exclusion Chromatography (SEC) Columns

  • SEC columns with diol groups on silica have required harsh mobile phases for LC systems, such as 100 mM high-concentration phosphate buffer + 300 mM NaCl.
  • In GPC mode using organic polymer substrates, there have been difficulties in mobile phase substitution due to swelling and contraction of packing materials.

Advantages of this Product

Intrada SEC column overcomes these challenges by developing a new chemical modification method for diol groups on the surface of fully porous silica gel substrates. This next-generation SEC column combines the mechanical strength of silica-based packing materials with the chemical durability of polymer-based packing materials.

It offers versatility to handle hydrophilic biomolecules like proteins, polysaccharides, and nucleic acids, as well as non-aqueous SEC for polymers like polystyrene. Moreover, it supports the use of volatile mobile phases such as 100 mM ammonium formate, making it suitable not only for traditional RI and UV detection but also for new analytical methods using evaporative light scattering detectors (ELSD) and mass spectrometers (MS).
